Pary El-Qalqili is a writer and director based in Berlin. She studied Cultural Sciences at the European University Viadrina and at the University of Buenos Aires before beginning her Film Directing Studies at the University of Television and Film Munich. Her first feature film, SCHILDKRÖTENWUT, premiered at Visions du Réel Festival and received several awards with international film festivals. Her short film NACHBARN, co-directed with Christiane Schmidt, was nominated for the Award of the German Film Critic. She co-founded along with Biene Pilavci the initiative #nichtmeintatort, a platform for feminist and intersectional film critique. Currently, she is teaching a course at the University of Arts Berlin, titled "Seeing ourselves clearly. Decolonizing our gaze. Re-thinking our practice".
